Walk description:

Begin west side of Gordon Station. Street walking (1k) until entrance to Blackbutt firetrail. Follow until we reach Lady Game Drive. Cross it and pick up Blackbutt bush track. Follow the pipeline track and up a short ascent. A little scramble with rope/pipeline for those who want (alternate easy option available too), then back onto the track until it intersects the GNW. We turn left then to the trackhead to descend in the direction of the Lane Cove NP picnic grounds. Then pick up the Rail to River track. Follow the creek, minor climbs up the final steep ascent to the Pacific Hwy and Chatswood Station. Map: Lane Cove NP

Report:

It was a large, sociable group. The weather conditions were on the warm side, but there was ample shade along the track. This was complemented by the steady pace and the ease of the walk. Walkers were forewarned to keep well hydrated. However, this did not prove a problem, as some walkers replenished when we reached the Lane Cove NP. Also, thankfully the humidity was not enervating like on some recent weekend walks.

Brush turkeys and water dragons were spotted along the way, but weren't in particularly great numbers today.

As anticipated the walk finished on time at 11.20 and people dispersed to get the trains.

As it was an uncomplicated walk and there were no outstanding incidents there is little else to report.
